Marlo is an AI receptionist that answers phone calls and texts for small businesses. It is made by Reuleaux, Inc.(“we”). This policy covers the Marlo app, the Marlo website at marlo.reuleaux.app, and the websites and booking pages Marlo runs for the businesses that use it.
We don't sell personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Two kinds of people
- Business owners and their team, who sign up for Marlo and use the app or the website to run their business.
- Their customers: people who call or text a business that uses Marlo, or who book or send a note through its website.
What we keep about business owners
- Your mobile number, which is how you sign in, and your name and email if you give them.
- Your business details: its name, trade, address, hours, services and prices. When you find your business during signup, these come from its public Google listing.
- Your plan and billing history. Cards are entered on Stripe's page and kept by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
- The settings you choose, and a token that lets us send notifications to your iPhone.
- Crash reports and performance data from the app and the website, so we can fix problems.
What we keep about the people who contact a business
- Their phone number, and the name and address they give.
- Calls Marlo answers: a written transcript and a summary. Marlo tells every caller at the start that it is an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded.
- Texts to and from the business's Marlo number.
- What they send through the business's website: notes, booking requests and photos.
- Their bookings with the business.
We keep this for the business they contacted, which decides how to use it, and we use it only to provide Marlo to that business. If you contacted a business that uses Marlo and want your information changed or deleted, ask the business, or write to us at help@reuleaux.app.
How we use it
- To answer calls and texts, book appointments and send confirmations and reminders for the business.
- To show the business owner their calls, messages, customers and schedule, and to tell them when something needs them.
- To run the business's website and booking page.
- To bill for the plan, keep Marlo secure, prevent abuse, and fix and improve the service.
Texts
A business's Marlo number texts people who contacted that business: replies, booking confirmations and reminders, and a text back after a missed call. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop all texts from that business, START to start them again, and HELP for help.
We don't share mobile numbers or text opt-in information with anyone for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text consent is never shared with third parties, except the phone companies that deliver the messages.
Who else handles it
We use a few companies to run Marlo. Each handles information only to provide its part of the service to us:
- Telnyx carries the calls and texts.
- OpenAI runs the AI that talks on calls and writes summaries and replies. Under our agreement with OpenAI, what we send is not used to train its models.
- Stripe handles plan payments.
- Google finds a business's public listing during signup.
- Railway hosts our servers and database, Datadog collects error and performance data, and Resend sends email.
- Apple delivers notifications to the iPhone app.
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our company, under this policy.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep a business's information while its account is open. An owner can delete the account at any time in the app (Settings, then Delete account) or on the website (Settings). That stops the plan and deletes the business and everything in it: customers, calls, transcripts, texts and bookings. Copies left in our backups are deleted as those backups expire. We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as billing records.
Your choices and rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to help@reuleaux.appfrom the email or phone number on the account, so we can check it's you. We answer within 30 days. People in California and other states with privacy laws have these rights by law, and we give them to everyone. Using them never changes how we treat you.
Security
Information is encrypted on its way to and from Marlo and stored on servers in the United States. Sign-in uses one-time codes sent to your phone, and the app can be locked with Face ID.
Children
Marlo is a tool for businesses and is not meant for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell owners in the app before a change that matters takes effect. Questions: help@reuleaux.app, or see Support. Reuleaux, Inc., a Delaware corporation.
